If You are Looking for the Best Ramen Noodle Soup Try Domu Asian Fusion
Not Even the Loudness can Keep me Away
I love soup but was never a fan of Ramen Noodle soups. Once I ate at Jinya Ramen Bar, it all changed. A few months ago when it was still cool, we (my family and I), had the urge for a Ramen noodle soup. Jinya is quite a distance away from us. We opted to try the next best thing based on internet reviews, so we visited Domu Asian Fusion in the Dr. Phillips area in Orlando.
Domu Asian Fusion on 7600 Dr. Phillips Blvd #14, Orlando, FL 32819, is a large open space restaurant with outdoor seating and an interior bar that divides the bar area from the dining area. It is nothing flashy or extravagant. It’s just a plain four walls divided by the bar and tables scattered around. The bar area esthetically stands out more than the rest of the restaurant.
The environment was not my favorite. Not because of the staff or patrons at the restaurant, but because it was too loud. I’m not talking about music loud, you could barely hear the music. It was the reverberation of voices bouncing off the walls that made it unbearable for me. However, since their ratings are fabulous, I stayed to be seated for almost an hour. It was a Saturday at 5 pm, so even though I felt tempted to leave, I waited.
We sat at an extended high-top bench table at the far end of the dining area. They took our orders and fulfilled them quickly. For appetizers, we chose Domu Wings which are coated with kimchi sauce and sesame seeds. And one of the best out there too. We also ordered Tako, which is grilled octopus with potatoes, greens, radish, and Yuzu mayo. For us, there was nothing special about this dish. It barely had any octopus and was flavorless.
But going back to the reason we came to this restaurant — Ramen soup! We chose Richie Rich and Yuzu Chicken. According to the Domu website, they make the Richie Rich with pork bone broth, scallion, fried garlic, black garlic oil, chashu, ajitama brulee, kikurage, and domudama (whatever those last four things are). The Yuzu Chicken is a shio base chicken broth, menma, scallions, ajitama, fried chicken thigh, Japanese spices, komi oil, and lime zest. I have to say Domu beat Jinya with their Ramen soup. The soup was exquisite! The best by far.
What better way to accompany our meal than with sake? We chose the sake flights which include four one-ounce ochoko (sake cups) of different flavors. Most we liked, a few we did not. It helped that the server brought a sake description card for us to follow along to learn what they made each sake of.
The service was superb. The server catered to our every need, gave wonderful suggestions, and kept our cups full. Overall, we enjoyed the food, which helped take our minds off the noise.
If you have not tried Domu Asian Fusion, I suggest you do. Other than the loudness, it is great. Who knows? Maybe the loudness does not bother you as much as it did me. Regardless, I will definitely return to Domu. Only next time I’ll choose the outdoor sitting area, so I better wait for winter to come back around.
