Our Thanksgiving was small, just my husband, son, daughter and myself. My house is usually the gathering place for the holiday meals with over 30 people - sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews, cousins and Mom. But I got sick a week before and needed emergency surgery. Unfortunately, the family did not come through for me. No visits, no calls to see if I was okay or needed anything. I only received texts from my sisters asking if we were hosting Thanksgiving still. My husband and children were livid and told them we were not hosting any holiday events until I was better. That was it. I haven’t heard from anyone. But you know what? I’m happy and grateful. I’m alive, recuperating and have the best husband and children ever!
